A big thank you

May has been and gone for the year.
My first experience of May Mission Month as State Director is over.
My prayer is that you and your church will continue to “grow where you are planted and sow where you are called.”
How encouraging to see the commitment of churches and individuals in the past May Missions Month. A BIG THANK YOU to all who supported nominated projects, attended specific events and gave financially.
The appreciation for the interest and generosity shown extends beyond the State Office and the Global Interaction cross-cultural workers. Those from the least reached people groups often comment on the opportunity to hear the good news which without such generosity would not likely to occur. As a result, God is responding to the prayers of those seeking truth and life just as much as the prayers from within Global Interaction. God’s faithfulness is evident. Relying on God to supply our needs in this manner is a rich spiritual journey as Paul discovered in Philippians 4. Much joy and encouragement occurs.
This dependency on God reminds me of Paul’s teaching in 2 Corinthians 8:1-10 and 2 Corinthian 9:1-10 where he encourages generous giving beyond what is normally accepted or reasonable or a last-minute thought for God’s wider work. The grace of God can be at play through new opportunities, unexpected provision and intentional lifestyle choices.

The challenge is what occurs in the rest of the year. Ongoing opportunities exist to be generous towards God’s activities amongst some of the least reached people groups.
If you were not able to participate in May, it is not too late. There are churches who have a missional focus later in the year. Also, the ‘May’ resources are available for use for such events. The State Office can assist on request. Prayer is vital for new and current workers, and their ongoing provision. The main prayer meeting is at the Baptist Centre (second Tuesday of the month at 1.30pm). You can receive the prayer material from Global Interaction (http://globalinteraction.org.au/resources/pray), or establish a prayer room in your church.
Look forward to your ongoing partnership with God and seeing God’s provision.
David Turnbull, State Director SA/NT
