People doing it tough visit Baptist Care SA’s WestCare Centre when they are on the brink of or experiencing homelessness.

They seek kindness and care in moments of rejection, hardship and loss.

But these times of darkness and loss of hope can be alleviated by the care and generosity of others.

Recently, we put a call out for towels for people who are experiencing homelessness to use after showering when visiting Baptist Care SA’s WestCare Centre.

Our call was heard loud and clear by many who were driven by kindness to respond, presenting to WestCare in cars full of towels, personal care items and non-perishable food items.

Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Burnside and the Rotary Club of Adelaide Central sprang into action before dropping off 105 new bath towels sourced through their Share the Care program along with non-perishable food items.

Community support group, A Helpful Hand, also delivered new towels purchased with donated funds and sourced by a small but mighty group committed to helping people experiencing homelessness.

A Sangha of monks from the Mahamevnawa Adelaide Buddhist Meditation Monastery delivered non-perishable food items, warm blankets and enormous gifts wrapped in colourful wrapping paper.

They explained that part of the Buddhist practice is to provide a hot meal to people who are hungry and said they wanted to give back to the people whose country provides them with many freedoms.

With humble hearts, we were blessed to receive their abundance of generosity.

I would like to extend my gratitude to all the people who responded to our call. Your contributions have helped us help those doing it tough.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work
