Risks worth taking for M&M Camp
Missions and Me (M&M) Camp Executive took a big risk this year with some very specific goals in mind. We held our breath and shifted M&M Camp from the traditional June long weekend, to the July school holidays. It was a risk worth taking.
As a result, we gained a strong excited team of leaders that brought a new level of maturity, skills and integrity to the camp. About half of the 43 leaders who volunteered their weekend were new, and we were grateful to local churches that supported the camp by releasing leaders of such quality to be involved with the 87 campers.
We also changed our timetable quite a bit to fit with the campsite and although it was another risk, we saw a lot of positive outcomes and our team really pulling together to make the adjustments.
We were blessed to have Rachel and Andy Stevens and David and Susie Haydon to help us with understanding God’s heart, the culture and their experiences of Malawi. They took part in sharing stories, along with other leaders, of their walk with God and the changes He brought to their lives when they encountered Him face to face.
Our Malawian meal on Sunday night was very special as we prayed for the people of Malawi and three families going on mission. It was exciting to see campers serious about their faith and responding to the opportunity to have leaders pray with them during that time.
The executive team would like to thank everyone who contributed to camp this year in helping us provide a fun, safe environment where campers could encounter God. We look forward to next year with great anticipation – save the date for 5-8th July 2019!
