Road trip: President Mark Foley visits Port Pirie Baptist and Laura Baptist
As an expression of the importance of our country churches and their witness to the love of Jesus in their communities, the President, Rev Mark Foley, visited Port Pirie and Laura Baptist on the weekend 16/17th June.
To worship with the vibrant, diverse and loving congregation at Port Pirie was a great blessing. The Church is made up of

Nathanael Trafford was baptised by his father and Pastor Roger Kleinig on the 8th July 2018 at Port Pirie Baptist.
faithful members who have lived, loved and prayed for one another and the Church’s witness over many years. They continue to bring strength and stability. There are many younger ones who came for a year or two after graduating from university, but fell in love with the people and place and have now had children and hung around bringing passion and a fresh approach to church life. And there are many long-term residents of Port Pirie who are finding through the Churches love and mission the welcoming embrace of God and experiencing the transforming power of His Spirit in their lives.
Port Pirie Baptist is a church committed to the mission of God in its community. Through its own programs including children’s ministries (actively seeking a children’s minister), weekly table tennis club, monthly community meals and the Hope Partnership, an Ecumenical body which runs a café and Christian bookshop in the heart of town, they are seeing God at work as he brings hope and freedom into the lives of many. Pray for Roger and Jenny and all those who lead and are involved in the ministry of this wonderful Gospel Community.

The community at Laura Baptist Church
Laura Baptist is situated in the beautiful town of Laura, amidst sheep and cropping farming on the edge of the Southern Flinders. While only few in number, their love for one another and their God, along with a commitment to His mission in their community is inspiring and tangible. Meeting in the back hall of their church they gather regularly to be encouraged by their Pastor Jenny while praying for themselves and their community. They provide hospitality to visitors to the region, actively support God’s mission beyond themselves, partner with other local churches to do Religious Education and children’s ministry within their school and are in conversation with the wider area about ministry together in other ways.
As your President it was an honour to experience the hospitality and be inspired by their heart for mission in the communities in which God has placed them. Please continue to pray for our country churches, that God will bless their work as they seek to witness to his goodness and grace and be ambassadors of Jesus, offering life and hope to the communities in which they live and serve.
