On Sunday 18th March, we at Semaphore Park Baptist Church celebrated the 100th anniversary of our church. We gave thanks to God for the vision and commitment of the congregation then at Semaphore Baptist Church which commenced a Christian work amongst us in 1918. We gave all the glory to God for the sustenance and continuance of his work over the past 100 years and placed our faith in God who has been our help in ages past and is our hope for the years to come! We acknowledged that God had built and is building his church at Semaphore Park upon the Rock of Ages, our Lord Jesus Christ – the church’s one foundation – whose we are and whom we seek to serve.
At morning tea after the service we offered a prayer of thanks to God for the past and faith in God going forward. One of our oldest and longest serving members, Mrs Hazel Arthur, cut the centenary cake that had been prepared by the pastor’s wife, Mrs Georgina Bates. To God be all the glory!
