What’s happening at Trinity Baptist Church
Trinity Baptist Church is not situated on a main road; instead, we are placed in the middle of the Colonel Light Gardens community, where we seek to be intentional in doing all that we can to connect with a wide range of people in our local community.
Our playgroup runs two mornings per week and attracts pre-schoolers and their carers; generally mums but some grandmas and dads too.
Four days a week we host ‘Care and Share’, a group for over 65s which has staff and volunteers. All participants receive a two-course hot meal, and are engaged in a range of activities for the body and brain, to help support socialising. Recently Care and Share have partnered with the UniSA School of Psychology to provide placement opportunities for third year Social Work students, who will help to integrate wellness activities, encourage personal and community development and enhance quality of life for older adults.
We also have a kids club for primary school-aged kids that connects well with children from our local public primary schools.
We run a range of other ministries like basketball, junior youth, Bible studies, cycling, mens and womens groups and a group for young adults with disabilities.
Our recent focus has been setting up the Alpha course. We had 25 participants join in with Alpha, many of whom do not attend church. These people were invited by family or friends, and some of these friendships had developed through playgroup and the local school.
We hope and pray that these ministries will grow us in line with our vision to be a more diverse people of faith that is deeply connected to our local community. Our desire and expectation is that we would see more families connecting with us and then coming to exploring faith in Jesus. We are excited about the shoots of new growth that we have seen so far and are prayerful that Jesus continues a renewing work in Trinity Baptist seeing His Kingdom grow in our local area.
